FAQ
What is Dynasty Ledger?
A tool for dynasty and keeper fantasy football leagues. It gives you free dynasty market values and a trade calculator — and, once you import your league, keep-vs-draft advice tuned to your league's actual rules, not generic advice.
What is "surplus value" / keep vs. draft?
In keeper leagues, keeping a player usually costs you a draft pick — the exact round depends on your league's rules. Surplus is simply: the player's current market value, minus the value of the pick you'd give up to keep him. Positive surplus means keeping him is a good deal; negative means you're better off letting him go and using that pick to draft someone else. We also check whether you actually still own that pick — if you already traded it away, the cost is treated as zero instead of assuming a pick you no longer have.
How are player values calculated?
We don't scrape or blend other sites' rankings. We compute our own values from real NFL production data (via nflverse) — weighted 65% current season / 35% previous, so it reacts to recent play without overreacting to one hot or cold stretch — combined with a position-specific age decay curve. For rookies and other low-sample players, we blend in a "potential" score based on their actual NFL draft position, which shifts toward pure production as they play real games (not just as calendar years pass — a rookie who played a full healthy season is treated very differently from one limited by injury or a split role). We also apply a discount for players currently on PUP, IR, or NFI. Because it's not a blend of consensus sites, our numbers will sometimes diverge from what you see elsewhere — that's expected, not a bug. If something looks specifically wrong rather than just different, we want to hear about it.
What's the difference between 1QB and Superflex?
In a Superflex league, an extra roster spot can be filled by a QB, which makes quarterbacks far more valuable (they compete for two lineup spots instead of one). Our values reflect this automatically — for imported leagues, the format is detected from your league's roster settings; on the free tools, you can toggle it manually.
Is this free?
Market values, the draft board, the trade calculator, and player comparisons are free, no account needed. Importing your league for keep-vs-draft advice tuned to your exact rules requires a free account, and unlocking that analysis requires a paid plan.
Where does the data come from?
League and roster data comes from the Sleeper API. Player production data comes from nflverse. Values update throughout the day.
Is this affiliated with the NFL or Sleeper?
No. Dynasty Ledger is an independent tool and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the NFL or Sleeper.
